I was able to install the app. However, it does not seem to be working... It does not seem to sense my location, and if I click on a link for directions, it does not navigate.

Hmmm... maybe reinstall it. i sometimes have a problem that it cant find me... try walking around with it or just giving it time

Also, the old google maps populated addresses/places when you started typing. Is that something that this app does? Thanks

I'm getting an error that I should check my internet connection. Can the app be used without internet? I have a LG Exalt

I went to link and downloaded new version of google maps and transferred it to my lg exalt and it cannot locate my location or go to any destination. I uninstalled and reinstalled etc. I do have data. Bottom line it doesn’t work. PLease help

Mglumpis Im finding that with everyone that i hear from who has the new version they say it doesnt work. somebody suggested taking the update script out of the old one but thats out of my league

Nhaaps If someone know how to remove an update script from an app, please post as I have an app that has the update issue also.

mr-mayor Why dont u just get the updated version of the app?

Nhaaps Because 1)I'm not able to to recompile the new version. 2) I've given the app to a few people and I can't always be updating their phones also. The app updates appx once a month.

so how did you sign the google maps app?

didnt sign it just changed what needed to b changed and it worked(but its having probs apperently).

If there is currently a version of Google Maps that is working for you, it would be a huge favor if you could post the APK here.

This is probably the easiest way:

1. Download APK Extractor apk-extract (zip download) or Apk-extract (APK Download)
2. Install it on your phone
3. Scroll down to maps
4. click on it (since you have no mouse, you may need to tell voice access to tap the number on maps)
5. Find the APK in the new Extracted APKs folder on your phone
6. Upload it to https://filetransfer.io/
7. Send us the link.

Working Google Maps!

Biden2020prez Great work on this and this! Someone told me they bumped into a "please update message on the google voice app. ( I never saw it myself) Then it went away after a while. Can you remove the update script from google voice just to future-proof it? Thanks in advance!

Flippy I can try. I happened to be lucky with this, I tried another version of Google Maps and couldn't remove it. But Google Voice may even be easier, I may be able to fake the date to confuse the app. Can you post the APK and I'll try?

(What I removed in the Google Maps was a setting that it checks for updates on launch)

Biden2020prez Thanks just tried the google maps now and looks good. Any chance you can do the version with the built-in pointer? The mouse gets finicky sometimes...
(side note: the amazon app will also not function w/o an update, so maybe either remove the app, or try to remove the update script)

uninstalled with ADB? If so, try it now the -k. (It won't save data from the previous version)

Uninstall my version with adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 package.name

Biden2020prez Originally I was using the uninstaller app. Now I did pm uninstall com.android.cts.jooglemaps and it worked.
