I would like to use the sim from Hello mobile which I believe runs on Tmobile MVNO in NY region.
I am techy enough and do not prefer a subscription-based filter unless you the pros think is the way to go.
I had the kids on a smartphone with Kaspersky parental control app but they got too smart and kept going around it after crashing the filter app in android. as the highschool time is coming up they need an actual Flip phone for school.

I was wondering if the Kyocera DuraXe is recommended. I need it to have a good receiption and does the phone job well . and it would be awesome if it is waterproof and have good camera .
also was interested in the CAT s22 as that is also water proof but what filter would work well...

if there is a good thread on the comparison for these the link would be appreciated.

the duraxv is very good phone its fast and and better texting than the extreme

doctorman DurXE seems to be a bit hard to find unlocked. Have you found any yet that you are considering? Its an okay phone but I like the DuraXV (verizon version) much better.

doctorman No. Your only option would be either Dura XE E-4710 or DuraXV Extreme E-4810. which I always refer to as the "DuraXE and Dura XV Extreme" respectively.

What I was trying to say it that even though the DuraXV E-4610 and E-4710 have very similar hardware, the software on the XE is different enough that just because people like the XV, not necessarily will they like the XE. That doesn't mean its bad though. I didn't do enough long-term testing to know how it would be under daily use.

doctorman If you want to block all internet access the filters are one time fee, if you want filtered internet then there will be a monthly fee. If you're giving it to a high school kid I'd definitely say to only use secure filters from TAG / Gentech, or a pre-filtered phone like the Sunbeam f1 series or FIG

lgexalter1 BTW I tried getting Gentech for a Cat S22 Flip and it didn't work. I called customer service and they connected me with one of their technicians. The technician tried solving my issue, but in the end, he couldn't get it working. Due to the fact that their filter monitors the screen and the screen resolution/size was too small. We even tried changing my resolution unofficially, but all our efforts were to no avail.

Techgen If you get the MB Smart BLOCK ALL option from TAG, they will give it to you for free.

Reifam dont forget the filter was built for android and the cats22 runs android go which interferes

Yes and its sort of a problem in certain hands because it doesn't need the exploit to install apps so anyone can install any .apk (browser, youtube, etc) with minimal effort. TAG my have options to fully kosher and prevent all app installation. Be vigilant. If my post helps you, please upvote it.

Im most tempted for S22 (130$) plus TAG MB smart and then FIG 2 (350$) but FIG 2 is very over priced... a dumb phone over 200$ !!

doctorman Yes, all options are pretty pricey for dumbphones, but that's what there is available nowadays. The Sunbeam is somewhere in middle at around $190.
Im pretty sure if you want some apps such as waze you can still get a one time fee filter, I don't know about MB Smart for free, you'll have to ask TAG what they have. (To be clear, this is for the s22, the FIG and Sunbeam phones are pre filtered and only come with limited apps, and cannot be added by the user)
The F21 and the F30 are the same phone, but the F30 was supposedly modified to have better bands for the US carriers. I would stay away from the F21, the reports im getting from people is that it has terrible service on T-Mobile. I think the F30 is better, but I don't know of anyone personally who has it.

disabling the S22, F30 via ADB should not be too hard
disable app installation, uninstall all unwanted apps, browser, play store

doctorman I was referring the the kosher F21 that used to be sold by FIG (they don't sell it anymore, prob due to the many issues) you can get it non kosher from Ali express, but I don't recommend it, it can be hard to kasher after.

The F30 is kind of a made up name (for a F21 with added bands) by pure talk who is offering a kosher one, I don't know if a non kosher version was ever released. You can read more about it in this thread
There was much discussion elsewhere on the forum about the FIG flip coming from China, but no-one was able to get a hold of a non fig version. As far as I know the sunbeam phone is proprietary so you won't find it on Ali.

And as @lgexalter1 said, I would strongly discourage trying to self filter any of these full Android phones, there are inevitably going to be loopholes, and even though it might be good enough for you, it won't be good enough for a teen who will have hours on end to play around with it.

F22 and F22 global are upgrades to F21/F30
F22 has no camera and there is a US version released by march
F22 Pro will have camera and US version will be out in 6-9 months

the sunbeam flip and Fig 1 flip are both customized ... but there is a US version of on aliexpress MTK but with 1G ram and 8 gb rom only , there will be Fig 2 like model in aliexpress by the end of the year I expect

The kyocera dura xv you can buy brand new on ebay for 160 or like new for about 100 and they last usually for a few years so its a good investment and the only secure filter is one that a organization like tag or meshimer etc puts on for u because if u remove the browser via ADB it can be restored by resetting the phone besides for the fact that almost any app can be added to the phone and be hidden well too, for the Kyocera u can use us mobile which has unlimited talk and text for 14 dollars a month. Regarding the sunbeam, in my opinion, DO NOT BUY my wife had it and I had it replaced by warranty and the second one broke too kept on crashing and very not sturdy phone a other option is LG classic which tracphone has refurbished for $15! but its locked to tracphone for 12 months and after like 6 months or so the keypad becomes blown up and it becomes hard to type and their service is a little expensive $25 a month for talk and text and I think 1 Gb of data and that phone can be filtered as well

For T-mobile (or Tello which is the cheapest service provider I think, and they have international calling free to 60 countries and they run on T-mobile) you need a gsm volte-voice over lte compatible phone which there aren't any great options in flipphones that are volte compatible the schok phone me and my wife had it broke almost right away and the warranty didn't get me anywhere there is the nokia 225 which tag can filter and it costs around $50 but I don't have any info how good of a phone it is, the sunbeam as I mentioned earlier is extremely junky and not reliable keeps on crashing and breaks easily and very not sturdy needs better firmware and to be made more sturdy built, the NUU phone is less then $100 and it is volte compatible and is also cdma compatible BUT it is EXTREMELY slow and u have to wait like 2 seconds after u press a button something should happen and as I use to say when I had it that on top of all its problems it also has the fault that it comes with whatsapp built in to the phone

About adb I don't know but I think it's not a regular android system the sunbeam

tracfone had an ebay deal for 20$ for the tcl flip 2 with 1 year of service 1200min
they cancelled orders after 1 to 2 weeks of waiting instead of shipping thema nd raised the price to 70$.

S22: Pro: 2 camera 5mp and 2mp, touch screen, very strong , water resistant
con: bigger , android 11 go harder to filter and limit

doctorman So there's no real filter (at least here, I don't know what TAG has) for that phone. I think a simple app uninstallation of the browser, play store, and whatever else you want to get off would suffice, but a factory reset would bring them back. That's usually a deterrent for most people. Why don't you call up TAG and ask if they could filter it? Please respond back here what they say.
