is there a email app for vn220?

or a way to sign in the original email app after uninstalling the browser?

You have to go to a computer and log in t o your gmail account and allow "less secure apps".
Also, in the email app, when typing in your email and password, type the password first, then go back and put in the email address, otherwise as soon as u start typing the password it thinks you're done and gets the password wrong.

mr-mayor "otherwise as soon as u start typing the password it thinks you're done and gets the password wrong."
Actually whats happening is that it sees youre using a gmail account and redirects you to sign in via the browser instead....

Flippy That may be. But either way putting the password first will solve the problem.

I followed those steps and i got a security email from google that they blocked my sign in! Any ideas?

select "it was me" in the email. and try again

Atusb

mr-mayor how do you allow less secure apps/

Atusb In your gmaill acct online. click on the your initial in the upper right corner and hit "manage your account", then click "security" on the left side, then scroll down to "Less secure apps access" and allow it.

Google is soon discontinuing the use of "allow less secure apps". The preferred method is to create an 'App Password". Go into your google account settings. Manage Account/Security (https://myaccount.google.com/security). Then scroll down just a bit and click on "App Passwords (https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords). Then follow the steps to create one. It'll pop up a one time use only password that you can use to log in.
Note that if you ever change your main password you'll most likely have to create all new app passwords and re-log in to all apps using them. Also, if you ever sign out from the email account via your phone, you will need to create a new App Password (they can only be used once).

marinegundoctor Did anyone test that method?, for a flip phone? Also note, that app passwords are only available if you enable 2 factor authentication which may be a pain in the neck in other instances...

thx just got it to work. note if you don't have browser access you need to set it up on a different device first

marinegundoctor It told me that this setting is unavailable for my account. Is this fixable?

McMonster You'll need to first enable 2 factor authentication on your google account. I set this up on my laptop. it would be difficult on the browser of a flip-phone.
Which setting are you referring to though? The app passwords or the 2FA?

Flippy I tested it on myself. It's how I got my gmail access on my Kyocera DuraXV Extreme.
And yes, you're correct about the 2FA must be enabled. So far it hasn't presented any issues for me. I'm happy with being able to quickly check an email on the flip.

I have a exalt with livigent filter would i still be able to sign in to email

no

Flippy

princeofthecS Yes following steps above, using app password.

btw if u do the password 1st and then do your email address and then go to password again it automatically go's for you and it just says connecting and loads forever so you have to do code then address then press next from the address and it go's right away

marinegundoctor Once I set up email on my flip, Can i then turn off 2FA or do i always need it on?
