jbriones95 Great. Did you try locations with weak service? On the original f21 pro, service was significantly worse than other handsets in poor service areas..

New FIG Kosher Phone
Flippy Yep. My house is one of those locations and it's great so far with T-mobile. Verizon is as spotty as with my Light Phone 2 and my wife's iPhone so not surprised. Bands of the device: 2,4,12,13,17,66,71 So plenty for GSM and missing just a few for Verizon, but enough for everyday usage.
jbriones95 I am interested, where can I buy one from? Do they have an ali link?
chaimzalman Bad link
ZTEGuy just tried it and it works
Apps4Flip-Admin Technically at pure-talk.com, but he hasn't prepared the website yet for all the traffic. As you know, there are fulfillment periods and they are trying to get the 3-tier system in place before publishing live.
countrypark This looks like the F21 [old fig phone], not the F30
jbriones95 If they're not ready to sell, why does it look like they're letting you order it at this link? https://pure-talk.com/product/qin/
Are they going to let me order it, and then let me know they can't fulfill it?
Techgen If you order right now, you will get the Kosher version. They are not ready to ship the Google version or customized version.
Techgen This is the page for the F30. The F30 has different bands than the FIG as far as I know. He customized the bands and has someone doing the software as well.
@jbriones95 are you aware of an issue with the F30 that calls are going to voicemail whenever the screen turns off? They are selling this phone in Cellular4Less in Boro Park (I assume it's the F30 because he said it's the latest model and only he has it). My father bought it there and was having this issue. He said alot of people had the same issue and they are still trying to figure it out.
jbriones95 Right, I was just saying that the link from planet cell looks like it's the f21.
countrypark No issues from my unit. As long as the ringer is on, the phone works as it should.
Techgen Got it. Probably the Planet Cell one is the FIG one.
countrypark With which service?
Flippy Verizon. They said it's a issue the developers are working on now and should have a fix today. The phone works normally until the screen turns off then it stops taking calls and goes to VM.
countrypark They said it's a issue the developers are working on now
Who said this? And is this a recent problem? What changed?
Flippy Cellular4Less in Boro Park. They just started selling it.
countrypark So do we know for a fact that this is NOT the fig?
Flippy they told him it's the latest model and only they have it now but haven't confirmed yet %100 that it is the F30. Is there a way to tell from a picture?
https://pasteboard.co/FeSnVaVe3U6Y.jpg
countrypark This should be the F30. The F30 doesn't have branding with Qin AI life or whatever it is. But Idk, if you have band 71 it should be the F30.
jbriones95 Thanks for the confirmation!
Update: Cellular4less stopped selling the phone until they put out a fix (probably this week) for the issue of calls going to Vm when screen turns off. They did manage to apply a fix to my fathers phone and it works now.
I'm wondering about the security of these phones. How much access do the develoeprs have? They did say they will be adding Waze, the question is how that is done remotely and what kind of access they have.
Hi everyone, I had the f21 for a few months (started having problems) so then I got the flip recently (its been 2 months and also starting to have problems). I really want the galaxy z flip4. How hard would it be to either copy the software from the Fig phone to the galaxy z and make the necessary modifications. Or more realistically make a similar dummed down android OS for the flip4. I saw that European version of the flip4 supports rooting so it should be possible right? Essentially wondering if someone can give me a breakdown of the steps needed to do something very similar as fig for a phone like the flip4. Based on my research I would need to,
- Root the phone
- Remove all the unneeded apps/processes
- In order to remove all browser and video playback, would I need to reverse engineer all the apps? This is the step I am most confused about
I'm a software engineer at AWS, backend/data systems not mobile. I did just started working with Kotlin but my skills in the area are limited.
TY in advance.
rand01201 Not really possible.
Biden2020prez why is it not possible? Because the phone doesn't allow custom ROMs on it?
Flippy Does the TAG filter remove all video playback? Like if i transfer something from my computer to phone?
rand01201 basically You can't flash any firmware to any phone. It only works on very similar models.
rand01201 I am not sure specifics. you should contact your local TAG office., They have a variety of options for many phones.
Biden2020prez I think he means to make a custom firmware specifically for this phone, just similar to the fig in its filter level/limitations
finally! new update on the fig flip fixed the issue with the waze app, & its working again. would be nice if they can post anywhere what else was addressed with this update.
Flippy Yes I do see twrp and custom kernels for the Flip3 on XDA Forums. Once I root the phone would I have access to the kernel and be able to make changes to the existing kernel or would I have to use a new custom kernel? If I can access the existing kernel code, I think i can disable browser that way more easily?
I remember Fig initially disabling browser on the android messenger then eventually they moved to their own messenger app, I would what the reason for that was?
hershys no, that wouldn’t be considered kosher.. it has an AppStore that has Waze, Gmail, and 2,3 other minor apps.
countrypark but is there a option to install other kosher apps like google maps..... or to install apk?
hershys I’m not sure, did not test but I hope and assume that not. They supposedly customized it to be kosher so I’m sure it’s not easy to bypass, if at all possible.
They are not officially selling yet, should start this week, but the device I saw, Waze and Gmail crash when attempting to use them. I assume this will be fixed once officially released.
countrypark thanks for the info. tag has a filter for that?
hershys the one Cellular4Less will sell comes filtered.
countrypark but do you know if im buying the non kosher if somebody could filter it cuz i would like to have some more apps?
hershys are you sure it’s available unfiltered with the US bands? I understood they customized the bands.
countrypark double checked now the unfiltered with us bands will be available in november
hershys guess we’ll have to check with Tag then.
greatobeajew Just curious if your phone is still working well with tello?
second does the fig flip also have the problems of service stopping after a while? or calls going to vm once the screen shuts?
does anyone know if there is a case available for the flip phone? the chassis does seem weak and could use some reinforcement
epjunk Doesn't seem like there is one, but anyways a case doesn't usually protect the biggest problem area- the hinge. It's the weak point and cases don't help. (Also becoming a problem with new "flip" smartphones....)
