Apps4Flip-Admin I have a friend who is related to the company, he showed me the phone for a few minutes and I used it to test a few things....it wasn't a whole official testing operation lol just a quick sneak peek in which I paid more attention to build quality than anything else to be honest. That's why I wanted to let u know it felt similar to the sunbeam in its plasticky design and clicky buttons.
EVERYTHING else I know about this phone was simply told to me by this friend of mine who obliviously uses the phone and was able to show it to me.

Flippy why is it hard to understand that this phone is nothing compared to the previous one, BECAUSE it was made FROM SCRATCH, how can I explain this in proper English? How about thinking like this, u wont find this phone anywhere else in the world, under any other name, because they made it. Just like anything else, iPhones computers, socks, and sneakers (what am I even saying!?).
and to clarify again that FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD, THEY HAVE TESTED IT ON ALL BANDS, and i myself used it to make a call on VERIZON when i used it.
and lastly one more CLARIFICATION: I by no means make a single penny by providing this info nor do i even care about the financial wellbeing of this company(although I do care about my friend lol), i simply love this forum and thought that I may share this info to u being that this may be the point of many peoples interest here.

and please everyone that's gonna reply just first provide some tunnel in which we can assume that you have information that's based off of any truth, like in my case it would be my personal testing of the device, and the info given to me by the person who has what to do with this company.

I'm not sure how or why this conversation got so heated, I think everyone just needs to take a deep breath 😄 . Thank you @MXRJR for introducing this phone and for whatever information you were able to find out, and for clarifying where you know it from. Thank you everyone else for your words of caution so no one should just stumble blindly into buying this or any phone without proper research. Ultimately as with the "keyphone" we'll just have to wait and see when it comes out and we can have a bigger pool of feedback, hopefully they'll both be good, the more decent kosher phones the better.

MXRJR FYI the phone can be bought from elsewhere, just a little digging and it can be found, just like the "previous" fig phone. Supposedly that was "born kosher" as well? ;-)

chaimzalman you for sure didn't read my previous post lol everything you said here was all that i disproved (again based on told info) in the previous post. I suppose if u do a little digging u can also find all the apple products that apple sells, without the apple logos on it, like as if apple buys their products from someone else and rebrands them.....well obliviously not, apple manufactures their own products......SO I'm trying to say that FIG this time around decided to manufacture their own product.

MXRJR Great. I am just saying that I take what I hear with a grain of salt unless I test it myself. And as I learned from the last phone, (and the company learned too), is that one person testing is not enough, and it will take more than that to know for a fact that something will work good on a larger scale. My issue is that it took a major amount of pressure from me and consumers until FIG even acknowledged that there is a service issue. They changed the language on the website quite a few times until they got it even close to right. And the promises to many people of "we are fixing the bands on the old phones" ended up being, "we are selling you a new phone, and not fixing the old one at all. Believe us this time it will be better" The FACTS are that I tried it personally with many brand SIM cards and some worked some didn't, even ones that were claimed to work from FIG. The same brand SIM from the same service provider could work, or not. Hit or miss. Also the FACTS are that many people had issues with T-mobile, even though it was claimed to work good.

FYI I do agree with you on what you said about build quality mostly except it seems like it may not hold up so well, considering the exposed hinge, similar to sunbeam. Sunbeam HAS been riddled with issues, but they have taken care of most of the connectivity issues via software issues, and are quick to replace the defective devices. And they are actively working on fixing the hardware for future shipments.

Flippy well said. i agree that there needs to be a large scale test and that the company really needs to be transparent about their mistakes and fix things properly. hopefully they can build a better reputation this time around with their new phone.

Flippy Found it. If any of the mods here give permission to post the link.... Anyways it doesnt bother me that they are taking a Chinese phone and filtering it, but to call it "born kosher" to show that somehow its better than any other filtered phone now thats a different story.

I just got the fig flip and it doesn't work with my Total Wireless(which is a Verizon MVNO) sim card, I also tried it with a Selectel sim and it didn't work, it only worked with a US Mobile sim

csp Yeah T-Mobile doesn't check IMEI, which is why I'm curious whether you tried US Mobile Verizon or T-Mobile based.

Verizon based = black sim kit
T-Mobile based= white sim kit

When you use the T-Mobile based one, they don't ask for IMEI (Just like T-Mobile), but the Verizon one does (Does anyone know whether or not Verizon checks IMEI? I know my friend is able to just move his sim between phones with no repercussions). Metro, which is T-Mobile, does check SIM, and only recently stopped charging $15 to move your SIM card.

Maybe it has nothing to do with the tower it's based on, just what the carrier decides?

Someone I know tried it on a verizon MVNO and his SIM card got frozen.
These guys have to get their act together.

Techgen It all depends on the bands. AT&T US 4G (primary) bands are 2, 4, 12, and 17. The F21 doesn't have any of these bands. The Fig Flip has all of them.

Is the fig f21 worthwhile? I saw someone has it with waze, uber, WhatsApp which I'd like. He said that a company on Israel filtered it for him.. Any way of replicating this here in the US?

looking4aphone You can buy the f21 here from Alibaba, and then filter it yourself or at TAG, see above discussion, in regard to the Band/carrier limitations of these phones.

azf I tried with a AT&T sim and a h2o sim and it doesn’t work.

chaimzalman I tried ATT direct and it worked. ATT MVNO's are a different story Cricket definitely wont work, but h20 should work with enough effort. Try all the APN's posted online, or call them.
smart You have to set the correct APN setting (sorry dont have it on me to post)
