We have gotten a lot of questions about the sonim phone recently, so I felt it was time for it to get its own topic.
Post anything you want about the XP3 here.

Hi I have a xp3, on the new waze, Uber, and stratigo, the cursor is seen, moves around the screen, but doesn't actually click on anything, rendering these 3 unusable 😥...also couldn't get the voice access working...the phone is a great overall phone, even has a built in sonim application that allows one to block internet, radio, or any application installed on the phone! No tag to slow your phone!
anonymousflipphone Just an FYI a TAGGED phone does not slow your phone down....
Oh I wouldn't know, I do have friends though who have reported problems after having their phones tagged....
Flip phones have tons of issues and so do smart phones. People like blaming TAGand although many times it can be it is their problem many times it’s not. Its just an easy go-to place to blame. Some people who’s phones were tagged from day one complain about it but really that’s just the phone they just never had it without it to know that it has issues
I'm pretty sure tag would-and has-admitted the filter could cause various problems.
anonymousflipphone A filter does not slow the phone down. Same as when you remove the phones browser via adb, do you see the phone slowing down because of that?
I really didnt think this was a subject of debate, ask tag themselve, they'll tell you...
anonymousflipphone Why you angry
Who's angry?
anonymousflipphone Agreed that It can make some problems but people are very quick to accuse them even when it’s not their fault. They are phones that start out junk and whatever you do to them is not gonna make it any worse take it to Kazuna for example it’s horrible as it is. people will run and blame the tag but that doesn’t really hold any water.... All I am saying is that people should do their research before blaming them. I am not defending them in any way shape or form.

I haven't tried stratego or the new waze, you still can use waze with the waze launcher, you just won't be able to report cops, everything else can be done with voice access/ switchboard. Voice acces should work, it's much easier to get it to work on the XP3 than on the exalt, you dont need any special commands, just install and when asked give accessibility permission. all other settings (which button etc.) can be set through regular settings

TAG filters different phones in different ways, some slow it down more that others. The Exalt/Kyocera have a livingent admin app always running, although most people don't claim to have a lag from that, the main issue people seem to have is with phones running KaiOS, which are really slow in the first place, TAG replaces the system with one of their own which was modified not to have a browser, which seems to make it even slower. In any case, its not comparable to simply removing a pre-installed app.
Wait techgen, you were able to get voice access working on the sonim xp3800 flip phone?? I ran into errors...
anonymousflipphone Yes, you can use an official version, or the one from kosherappsforflip (kyocera) but the one from apps4flip needs to be signed before it can be used on the Sonim Xp3
shloimy First you have to enable usb debugging, every phone has a different way, on the xp3 you type *#*#2387#*#* on the xp5 it might be the same or press the build number 7 times to get to developer options and enable usb debugging. Then get the apk you want to install, and install it using adb (it can't be installed just by clicking on it on the phone)
thanks techgen for the info! would you be able to guide me in installing voice access from kosherappsforflip?
and do you think the other apps from kosherapps, kyocera version, would work on the sonim xp3?
anonymousflipphone All apps from kosherappsforflip should work on the XP3 (and most from apps4flip) you install voice access the same as you would any other app, and when you open it it will tell you to enable it in accesability settings. then use the app settings to take the annoying blue button off the screen, and set your own key to activate it.
when you say "you install voice access the same as you would any other app"-you mean apps4flip method of installing any other app? Or do you mean kosherappsforflip's method? If you mean apps4flip's method, (via adb method), then isnt there additional instructions given for that specific app? and if you mean kosherappsforflip's method, what is their method...? (sorry, im rather inexperienced with these things 🙂
anonymousflipphone The apps4flip method is the regular way through adb, which will work, you don't need those extra commands for the xp3. or you can use kosherappsforflip's kyocera app installer for an easy way to install any of thier kyocera apps (Including voice access). or you can use their auto apk installer to install any apk you downloaded from either site. (that installer may crash after a few apps, just x out and try again). Hope this helps.
BTW if you want me (or any other user) to be notified when you respond, you need to put an @ symbol before the username. (clicking reply will automatically add it to the beginning)
@Techgen
ok so i used webadb to install voice access from kosherapps.
After installing, i wasnt able to click anything from the main screen unless i double tapped. Additionally, i wasnt able to figure out how use it altogether; it wouldnt respond to my commands...
anonymousflipphone on the exalt, if you go to notifications there's an option for voice access settings. There's probably something like that by your phone too.
In it you can change settings like, cancel on touch, configure activation key, etc. That may help you out....
anonymousflipphone Yes, I had that double click issue also, but i wasnt sure which one of my many apps caused it I guess now i know 😆. but i got used to it. I'm not sure where youre getting stuck, but @Jumptoheaven is probably right, you need to go to settings>accessability>voice access>settings and configure activation key and other settings
@Techgen I had the double tap issue with both VA and switchboard. Maybe the problem is with all apps from kosherappsforflip?
And what are functions that i can use with VA and switchboard? with switchboard, it became my default keyboard, i try typing and end up with lines on my screen....
@Techgen and what is the Resetter part of switchboard; do i upload that to my phone via adb the same way as the apk?
anonymousflipphone on which phone do you have switchboard ?
anonymousflipphone I doubt it has to do with kosherappsforflip, more likely that theyre both accessability apps. i'm not sure exactly what your issue is, but after you give accessability permission it askes you to make switchboard the default program, don't switch it, leave it on flex t9 and close it
anonymousflipphone the resetter is a windows program that kosherappsforflip made to reset the selected button if your having issues. you dont put it on your phone, you run it on the computer while your phone is attached. Anyway i dont think its needed for the xp3 because you can always change the button in settings (unless you set the select button or something and really mess yourself up)
I by mistake set the enter button to open an app when held down for 3 seconds and now it doesn't work to click regularly (it only works to hold for 3 sec and opens the weather app). Now can't do anything on the phone and the sonim care lock blocks reset option. Anyway to disable the button mapper app without having the enter button???!!!
or another way to get the button to work?
whatelseshouldido You can use scrcpy or you can do adb uninstall from a computer (I think you can also still reset by holding power and volume down or up and resetting from that menu)
Random tip for XP3 users: If you're having a problem with Jewish Music Stream and Jstream keeping on crashing, I've found that you can use a radio app called simple radio that works well on the xp3, it has many of the stations available including jewish music stream, geula.fm, jroot radio, jewish hits, dance 246, and nachum segal. (of course if you don't want regular radio on your phone don't use this app)
@Techgen can you pls post link of apk?
And I install it via adb the same as all other apps? Thanks!

You install it with adb like any other app. Link expires in 7 days
@Techgen Thanks!!
anonymousflipphone I have the same issue although not with the apps you listed
Does anyone have info on the issue reported?
Random tip for xp3 (and others, but usefull on xp3): If youre annoyed that alot of apps, such as waze, display large so you cant see all that you are supposed to, you might want to play around with the screen size and dpi. adb shell wm size and adb shell wm density. The default dpi is 160, if you make it lower it will make things smaller, if you make it higher it will be bigger. You'll want to find the right balance between your other apps looking good and the system apps looking good. Random bonus if you do adb shell wm size 360x480 and adb shell wm density 225, you might get different looking icons. adb shell wm density reset and adb shell wm size reset puts it back to normal.
Just letting everyone know. You don't need any app launcher on the sonim xp3 once you add an app through adb it will show up in the main menu under the "applications" folder!
@Techgen how do you access your installed apps? Through the app launcher from the site or the phones applications folder?
@Gratitudetocreator On the xp3, I don't think it's even possible to use the app launcher. I remember when I installed my first apps4flip app, I didn't know how to access the app, I tried dialing a certain code to access the app launcher, but the launcher wouldn't even work. Then I found all the apps in the Application folder...
anonymousflipphone right but I wanna have a way to have the added apps in a different folder like In the app launcher...
Gratitudetocreator I use the regular applications folder that comes with the phone
