Hi everyone,

I am in middle of polishing a native hebrew keyboard that I made for flip phones.

In order to get the install instructions right for each phone I need some help from everyone.

Can you run the command adb shell ime list and post the result here with the phone model?

Thanks all

The keyboard is ready and will be given to the apps4flip admin to post on the main website. Please post all constructive feedback in this thread

The admin has told me that the app is now live on the apps page on the main site, go here to download it

@BoruchAdler Thanks for contributing this app. We tried it and it works great on the lg classic. Thank you!

Thank you VERY much!! One הערה. It doesn't have some of the options of the original keyboard such as K9 and copy & paste.

Apps4Flip-Admin

Can you describe how the copy and paste would work? I.E what is the flow to copy and paste something from the keyboard that it is missing

L-B

Im not good at describing I just know that in the original keyboard there is a paste option if you press the top left button and scroll through all the options.

I just noticed a more serious issue. there is no number option that i can find and the only way to type numbers is with long press. especially annoying when trying to dial a number (the original keyboard defaults to numbers typing when in the dial screen, this one types letters...)

Thanks for reporting this. I will work on adding in a numbers only option.

Thanks

@BoruchAdler it works very very not good i can't use t9 at all pls update it thanks

@BoruchAdler btw i know this is not the discussion here but the pointer also works extremely not good on lg phones it would be a good idea if u make it work well with a long press support

@Apps4Flip-Admin It seems like although this is a good project headed in the right direction, it still needs a lot of work, so I don't think it should be on the main site just yet, it should be kept in the forums to be tested until a solid version can be put in

L-B

appspro In my opinion it works "extremely good"

L-B

appspro just because there is no T9 doesn't mean it is "very very not good" it just means it doesn't have a feature that you would like. BTW try using voice access for texting it is way better than T9 (unless you are somewhere that you cant speak).

hi everybody!
where are your thanks to @BoruchAdler for his awesome work?

Apps4Flip-Admin

appspro We use it and it works great on our LG Classic, so not sure what you are talking about.

Please try to keep things friendly and constructive, long winding criticism without substance like "works very very not good" do not add value to this community. If you have specific things that could be improved like T9 support, feel free to say them in a friendly way

Apps4Flip-Admin

Techgen It does need a bit of work, but works amazingly well even in its current state.

We do say that it is in beta on the main site though, just to make it clear to everyone.

@BoruchAdler thank you!
another fix can be to set the keys from right to left just like all other Hebrew keyboards so "C" should be for אבג and "B" for דהו etc.
but the better would be to figure out how "TAG" made their hebrew keyboard on the classic which works just like the reguler one they juat added another option in the menu where you can choose between "T9 word"
and "ABC" etc.

Techgen

Apps4Flip-Admin I haven't tested it myself, it just sounded like from others on the forum that there are issues that the regular user would not want to deal with, it could be its really good and they're just being overly concerned

@practical Great point, I am working on an update to fix the endi chof. As for the hebrew layout, I can add that as a setting in the app.

I have an update with the new numbers only mode. I sent it to the admin to post on his file storage thing an hour ago. I will post the link here once he sends me the link

Looking forward to hearing feedback from everyone here

I forgot to mention, the new version also includes the new left to right layout option as requested by @practical . You can switch between the new and old hebrew layout through a checkbox in the main menu of the app.

GOLDFISH

BoruchAdler it has a mistake when click on the box to enable L to R layout it goes from R to L and when it’s off the check in box it goes L to R

@GOLDFISH Thanks for pointing that out, was probably an oversight on my part. Will work on a quick fix.

BoruchAdler thanks a million for this amazing app
just one think if its possible to set that from the dialing screen should numbers be the default also if I have used it in another mode previously and thanks again!!!!!!!!!!

just to let anyone know that to go back to the original input method write this command
adb shell ime set com.lge.ime/.LgeImeImpl

just realized that I'm unable to dial ## to dial service codes
only if I dial it really quick but for codes which have # or * in like this one #* 5436368*#125 its impossible
and also to dial doesn't work most times
I think maybe the should be to set only numbers for the dialing screen without an option to switch btw abc אבג 123

Apps4Flip-Admin

mg5077 Excellent work, we will add that instruction to the main instructions

SamFried

BoruchAdler Thanks for your great work! is it possible to make the speed a bit slower? im trying to select a digit but its already going to the next one....

and also if possible please add a up down layout option to be able to go to the next row. thanks

@SamFried These kind of things are usually dependent on each person's individual taste. I can add in a setting to adjust the delay though. Would that work?

@SamFried Can you elaborate on the up down layout option. I am not clear as to what you mean?

SamFried

BoruchAdler its just to fast, maybe you should add a speed option same as you did with the mouse

SamFried

BoruchAdler if you use the keyboard on ivelt for example you cant go down or up to the next row

L-B

In the original keyboard long press of the pound key is like pressing "enter" which can be very useful

Just my two cents...
תכלית גערעדט it's difficult to see people permanently giving up some of the functionality of the original keyboard in order to have Hebrew built in.
So either you'll end up painstakingly putting it all into this one that you have built...
OR have an easy backdoor way to switch from this new keyboard to the original without using ADB

SamFried

L-B STOP!! He is not making money from this project.... and at leaset appriciate what he gives you!

L-B

SamFried מסכים
Im just trying to give constructive advice
I appreciate Boruch's efforts VERY MUCH and I know that I have NO CLUE how to do this stuff
His mouse is AMAZING and I use it constantly

Just realized that you can switch keyboards in the "switchboard" app settings after switching the "enable switchboard" switch!

Apps4Flip-Admin

practical Can you post more specific instructions on how you did this with switchboard?

practical Thanks for that tip! Now I can use it!

any plan to add t9? possible to add Hebrew/לשה"ק/אידיש t9 as well?
thanks

Apps4Flip-Admin After setting up "switchboard" -before exiting- you have to choose between "finish" or "settings", you hit "settings" (this is just the first time, then every time you go into the app you are at settings), see here.
So when you are in the settings the first option is "enable switchboard", see here.
if your switchboard is working then it's switched to on,
so now You switch it off, a dialog will pop up asking you to select a keyboard, see here.
now you can select "Apps4flip Hebrew Keyboard" !
Don't forget to turn your switchboard back on (if you still don't have @BoruchAdler 's mouse...)
the next time you just enter to switchboard you will be in the settings, just switch it off and back on, you will get this menu again where you can change back to the reguler keyboard!

practical can you please post a link to your switchboard because I don't have this options in my switchboard
